Normally rehearsal dinner photos don't get featured but this one was too good not to share! Cluny Bistro in the Distillery District is definitely one of my new favourite venues. The decor and natural light are to die for. A beautiful space to celebrate an even more beautiful couple!
"Kieran, they are AMAZING!! So so happy, thanks so much."
After recently taking on a crazy basement overhaul for an interior design event, One Room Challenge, Christine wanted to capture some real life moments in the newly designed space. These moments are what I'm all about and I'm so grateful to be a part of them. The kids playroom is hidden behind a moving bookcase (!!) so I think it's safe to assume a lot of time will be spent there. Thank you sweet Jasper for the beautiful song you made up about Christmas and Mexico. It made no sense and I loved it.
"I just want to tell you that you are seriously incredible. These pictures are absolute perfection and it's almost impossible for me to wrap my head around the fact that you took this number of stunning photos in the time you did...and with no assistant or lighting or gear...just your amazingly wonderful eye. The photos are beyond what I could have hoped for and so so perfectly capture the spaces. The playroom ones are actually my favourite because they reflect the sweet little magic I think that room has. Thank you, thank you...I'm incredibly grateful. xo"
Keltie looks like a true 90s supermodel. With MUA Estelle Phillips we were able to create two very different shoots at the same location, believe it or not! Did you know it's really hard to get into skatepark bowls?
Bob and Monique got married on Friday the 13th at the Spice Factory in Hamilton. I photographed them kissing at my very first wedding almost 3 years ago, so I was thrilled when they asked me to capture theirs. Similar to Meghan and Alex's story, a Canadian girl fell in love with an Aussie and found a new home together in Australia (with two beautiful little ladies).
"Thank you for the amazing photography for our wedding. Mo & I have loved your work since seeing Sarah & Sean's wedding photos and pretty much earmarked you to cover our wedding way back then. Our confidence in your work was entirely confirmed not just in the stunning results but also with how easy it was to work with you and your partner on the day." - Bob
On the drive home from this session a little mouse popped up on my windshield. I called Andrew to ask him if the mouse could get in the car. He lied and said no. Shortly after hanging up, the mouse made an appearance on the passenger side of the car. The INSIDE of the car. I'm pretty sure it brushed my coat at one point. All of a sudden I'm standing on the side of Yonge with my car still running in the middle of the road. Luckily a very nice man drove my car off the road for me. While this has nothing to do with the actual shoot I will never forget it, and I think the photos speak for themselves.
Three weeks after capturing Armaan enter the world we did a follow-up family session. At only three weeks he was almost ready for a haircut and already flipping the bird. I told him he was an advanced baby.
Check out Alisha's magazine!
"Kieran!! Sunny and I downloaded the photos last night and went through them..Omg <3 <3. They're beautiful!! Thank you so much."
The moment Alisha reached out to me to photograph the birth of their first child I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. What started out as an at-home water birth unfortunately turned into an emergency C-Section after finding out the baby was in breech position. Despite the sudden change in plans, we were still able to capture both Alisha and Sunny holding Armaan for the first time. I think the first image of Sunny holding Armaan will forever be one of my favourite shots. It was definitely a surreal experience but somehow I felt very comfortable. Alisha and Sunny were so welcoming and both Kathy (the midwife) and Angie (the doula) were so calm and supportive. I found out that the backup midwife's name was Kieran and Angie's son's name is Kieran, and I kind of felt like it was a sign that I was in the right place. Welcome to the world, Armaan!
"Sunny and I are so grateful for everything you did for us. Your flexibility was so greatly appreciated and took away any stress for me just knowing you'd be there to see it through. Myself, Sunny, the doula and the midwife have all commented on your technique, professionalism and ability to capture the birth story while also not getting in the way when things got serious...Thank you again for these beautiful images!"
Sunsets are great, but overcast family shoots are ideal. Not having to worry about lighting allows me to shoot from every angle and capture those perfect candid moments like the ones in this session. Pretty easy with these cuties. Thanks for being cool with all the puddles! *This family shoot was unofficially sponsored by Roots.*
"Oh my goodness Kieran!!! Thank you so much. We are so happy with the photos. Our only difficulty is deciding which to print because we love them all. I really appreciate all your work."
Loved photographing this beautiful family in their amazing home. I'm pretty sure you're all going to fall in love with Smith and his many, many rolls. This shoot is proof that it's ok if you're baby isn't in the best mood while shooting. Smith was not a happy camper but you'd never know it! I'm sneaky like that.
"They look amazing. Can't wait to stare at them 20 more times todAY!!!!...You were a total pro to work with and man did you make our boy, house and everything shine!!..Thank you thank you thank you."
Kelly and Xavier met on a couch and the rest is history, as they say. It was only logical that we also take their wedding portraits on a coach. For those of you who know me well, you know I'm obsessed with antiques. I was like a kid in a candy store at this venue (Applewood Shaver House) taking photos of all the old pieces. Nothing like some creepy old dolls to juxtapose the beautiful union of two lovely people. Fun fact, Xavier made the Just Married sign for their car. Impressive crafting skills!
"The photos look fantastic! Xavier and I had a lot of fun looking at them last night! You captured our day perfectly. It was a pleasure working with you and thank you for all your hard work!"
Babies develop at different rates so you never really know what you're going to get with newborn shoots. I was lucky enough to shoot Isla just as she was learning how to focus her eyes. Capturing her make eye contact and smile at her parents for the first time was so special. She pretty much killed it!
"Wow! The photos are incredible. Thank you so much!!!! You really captured a special time for our family. There are so many amazing shots I don't know how I'm ever going chose which to frame. Thanks again! We will definitely be in touch to do another shoot over the summer and will pass your name along to our friends."
I've said it before, I'll say it again..these two are the sweetest! I've never seen a groom so emotional as his bride walked down the aisle and I had to stop myself from running over and hugging him (I low key shed a few tears). Lots of photos of the kiddies in here because nothing is cuter than babies in tutus and suits. Calla looked so stunning and that dress is pretty incredible. Spot the photobomb!
"They look amazing!! You captured the day perfectly!! Thanks so much for everything!"
This was a very special wedding for me, not just because it was incredibly beautiful to shoot. I've known the bride, Meghan, for as long as I can remember. When I was little she would give me garbage bags filled with hand-me-down clothes and my friends referred to her as The Meghan Store. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful Georgian Bay sunset for a backdrop to the Canadian-Aussie celebration. Is it even a party without Aussies? All the best Alex and Meghan!
Invitation design: Pia Richards
Dress: Grace Loves Lace
"All we can say is WOW and fantastic! We loved them and to say you captured the essence of the day is an understatement. Thank you for your wonderful attention to capturing every possible moment..." - mother of the bride
What can I even say about this family session?? Home shoots are my favourite because they feel so natural. Add an interior designer to the equation and it's almost too good. Christine Dovey is incredibly talented and it was such a pleasure photographing her family in the most beautiful space. Fun fact: She designed the ELLE Canada closet. Check out her designs: christinedovey.com.
"KIERAN!!!! This is so unbelievably incredible. I really have no words. You have given us such an incredible gift with these photos and I will forever be in your debt...I truly ADORE them all...These photos will be treasured forever and for always and I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Woodrow, Woody, or as his mama calls him, Woody-Oody. In home family sessions are some of my favs. Hard to beat moments like Woody sitting next to his dad with a big grin on his face. Thanks Armstrong family!
"They look awesome! I LOVE the ones of him by himself. You captured some great facial expressions; the black and white one...my fav. Exactly what we wanted."
These two little ladies are so sweet together! I took photos of Gabs when she was just a baby so it was nice to see her all grown up, holding her baby sister. She pretended to be shy for about 10 seconds and then hopped on my back and yee-hawed while I took photos of the baby. The camera definitely loves those big blue eyes!
Sometimes plan B is the best plan. This was my second shoot in 2 weeks to change due to rain. Challenge accepted, mother nature! Loved shooting this freckled natural beauty (brow envy aside).
MUA: Estelle Phillips
"These. Are. So. Good. I love them alllll so much thank you ❤" - Delaney
So I got a new camera and I'm living the photography dream. This was my first shoot testing it out and I'm blown away by the results. Obviously having a gorgeous subject and an amazing makeup artist helps! This was my first official boudoir shoot, although this was boudoir with a fashion twist. Emma had some amazing pieces that she really wanted captured and there were definitely no complaints from me. I'd be happy to raid her wardrobe any day. Capturing photos that are sexy while still classy is definitely an art and something I find very powerful. So ladies, who's next??
MUA: Estelle Phillips
"Kieran, the photos are stunning!!!! They make me feel beautiful. So happy with how the shoot turned out. I will be your model any day." - Emma
"Obsessed!! You're a rockstar." - Estelle
It's always nice shooting families who want natural photos just doing their thing (ie. playing with dinos), especially when welcoming a super cute baby to the family! The Aga Khan Museum is such a great location for photos. It's so well manicured and if you go on a weeknight you'll have the place pretty much to yourself.
Just a regular Tuesday night! In reality I skipped barre class (sorry Flo). Shooting Kat was such a breeze and our location wasn't so bad either. Thanks to the Boulevard Club for letting us take over their docks and of course to our amazing MUA, Estelle Phillips. Fun fact, I didn't enhance Kat's eyes. Swear. To. God.
"I'm literally jumping up and down! So so happy with the pics! You two did a stellar job and made me feel like a queen! Thank you times 1 milli <3"
Calla & Jimmy...what a sweet couple! We shot their engagement session at Calla's family cottage in Haliburton on a mostly stormy weekend. Luckily, staying true to classic cottage country weather, the sun came out Sunday evening just as everyone starts heading home. Usually very frustrating, but in this case it worked in our favour. The photos on the water were shot from the solo kayak I was navigating (I left the tip of my kayak in one of the shots as a souvenir of this achievement). I even managed to keep my camera dry so it was a win for all! Can't wait to shoot their Muskoka wedding this September.
"They are all sooo amazing!!! We both love them! It is going to be so hard narrowing it down for the invitations! Can't wait for you to shoot the wedding! Thank you so much!!"
Jill is a Toronto-based fashion blogger. We had so much fun shooting different looks at Apt 200 on Queen West with MUA Estelle Phillips. We couldn't have asked for a cooler spot to shoot and escape the lingering winter. Check out her blog!
"OMG love!! They look amazing. I'm so happy! You have such a great eye. They're wonderful, down to the editing and everything." - Jill
Alex & Andre got married on New Years Eve and it was an absolute blast. When Alex told me they were going to have a candle-lit ceremony I knew I wanted to embrace the darkness and maintain the intimacy. It was an absolutely beautiful way to exchange "I dos". Actually, I believe Andre said "of course". The mood quickly shifted when Alex and Andre decided to swap out the traditional first dance for a lip sync battle. Yes, you read that correctly. When it came time to count down to midnight the couple popped a giant confetti cracker as the fireworks from Nathan Phillips Square went off in the background. Pretty hard to top that. Thanks for amazing NYE plans, Robichauds!
"Thank you!! The box is an amazing touch. Love the pics..They are SO great! - Alex
This shoot is pure magic. Everything came together so perfectly and Emily & Tim look so good together. Hard to deny that Emily was the star of the shoot, but Tim made a very handsome supporting character. I mean, her hair glows in the sun. Who could compete??
"MY HEART IS GOING TO EXPLODE. I love this all sooo much. You are too good."
"Working with Kieran feels very natural. She puts you at ease right away and almost disappears with her camera as if to let you completely live in the moment. She's thoughtful, creative and a true artist." - Emily
"Wow. I am lost for words. You truly are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen." - Tim (to Emily)
Love love love this family! I shot Nicky & Drew's wedding in January of this year and on Halloween we had a fun family shoot. Their daughter Georgia is beyond adorable and a little ball of energy. Pretty stylish too! Thanks Clark family!
"You are so awesome! Love your work! Thank you!" - Nicky
This shoot really made me sweat. We had a general location in mind during the planning stage, but couldn't quite find what we were looking for on the day of the shoot. The sun was quickly setting and (no) thanks to daylight savings we had an hour less time to work with. Just as I was getting ready to accept defeat we stumbled across the most incredible location that none of us knew existed. All of a sudden the sun broke through the clouds and it was good. So so good. The best shoots are always the ones that surprise you and keep you on your toes. Well worth the sweat. Thanks Eric and Cassie for bringing the good vibes!
"I f*cking love them!! I can't stop looking at them. They're so good." - Eric
"I'm so in love with all of the photos. You're amazing, thank you thank you!!!" - Cassie
Estelle is an amazing makeup artist and an even more amazing gal. At such a young age she knows exactly what she wants to do, and she's doing it. This was such a fun shoot and definitely didn't feel like work!
You should probably check out her work!
"MY GODDDDD! Kieran, I don't think you fully grasp how talented you are. I can't get over how amazing all aspects of those photos are and I'm so OBSESSED WITH THEM!!! You are so amazing at what you do and you are so modest, it's unbelievable. I feel so lucky to get to work with you!"
Erik & Mikayla are two of the nicest people I have ever met. They are so genuine and so welcoming. Huge smiles, adorable flower girls.. so happy to be a part of it all. Shout out to my second shooter Chris Cheung (@asianwithcamera)!
"They are so stunning...thank you so much!! 😂😂❤ Seriously. You did an amazing job." - Mikayla
Shooting this wedding was so effortless. I always feel right at home on the farm (cue my brother calling me a cow). The wedding took place on the groom's family dairy farm. The ladies got ready in the beautiful old farm house which provided some stunning window light. There was a steady but light rain throughout the day. This did not, however, dampen the spirit of the wedding. People came out in their rain boots and took in the beautiful scene. Shout out to Mother Nature for the incredible double rainbow at the end of the day. From the succulents in the bouquets to the wheat (from the farm) in the boutonnieres, everything was picture perfect. And those flower girls..
"This girl used her professional talents to make the mötly crew of Ian and me look stunning/elated/stupendously happy/surrounded by our tent packed with our favourite people and tonnes of love. She shared her considerable talent with us, highlighting the family, the happy, the connections as only a member of the fam jam can."
